Specifically what are Tapas?

I am not thinking of dining out on Tapas, It seems that people have different definitions of exactly what they are judging by the recipes I have been looking at and what I am hearing. One opinion was that they are like Tacos!!Specifically what are Tapas?
Tapas are generally appetizers, a small snack, olives, cheese, bread or any variety of munchies accompanying cocktails in Spain. Originally they were served on a small plate to cover (tapar) your drink glass, and they were whatever the barkeep was distributing.

Now days, tapas bars have a HUGE variety of munchies that you can order, usually to share among your party while out for the evening. So, a tapa can be anything, but it is traditionally just a little "something" that goes with a glass of wine or cocktail.Specifically what are Tapas?
Tapas is the term used for "small plates" It isn't on specific type of food, but rather appetizer type plates such as mixed olives %26amp; cheeses that are traditionally Spanish but with the increasing popularity many tapas bars offer more varieties.Specifically what are Tapas?

Eat when you drink.Drink when you eat. It's the philosophy!!Tapas are Good it is a life Tapas are Spanish appetizers before a meal or instead of meal. There like conchas finas.Good luck enjoy!!
