Was the basic design for the Honda CL 175 series relatively the same?

Im looking to buy a 1969 honda CL 175 but it is missing the side covers and the muffler guard, i was wondering if i could use parts from a later model such as a 1973. Id like the muffler guard, cause i dont want to burn myself on the pipes. Just let me know
