What is the best way to upgrade a 96' Honda Civic w/out spending a lot of money?

I have a 96 Honda Civic and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to make it faster w/ out spending gobs of money and without using a turbo. What is the best way to upgrade a 96' Honda Civic w/out spending a lot of money?By selling it.

You said you don't want to spend gobs of money.

How much is gobs?

Would you consider $1500 to be gobs?

Because 1500$ will get you intake, header, and exhaust.

Which will give you 3-4 horsepower, over your normal driving power band.

800$ for the exhaust, gets you 14 peak horsepower, which is great if you intend to drive around 6500 rpm, all the time.

For your normal acceleration, etc, 1-2 horsepower.

So, 1500$ will get you around 3-4 horsepower. The car won't be faster. You can't even notice that amount of gain. You could swap out the pistons, and some other stuff, but then you'll gain around 20-30 horsepower, and cost another 2000 or so.

And it gets worse from there. What is the best way to upgrade a 96' Honda Civic w/out spending a lot of money?
Dude forget about speed. Rules for racing these days are so strict that if you get caught the cops can smash your ride to pieces and you can't do anything about it. Just focus on making your car look nice. I suggest you get some rims, suspension to lower your car, make sure it has a nice paint job, add like a jdm lip or something like a carbon fiber hood and wallah you got yourself a clean *** civic. What is the best way to upgrade a 96' Honda Civic w/out spending a lot of money?you cant make a Jap car faster only stupider, if you want a faster car go with American muscle like a Z28 Chevy Camaro you can get them for about 3 grand, use craigslist you can find plenty of them on there some for even less than 3 grand too
Have to spend money to make things go fast. For instance, first thing would be like getting a K%26amp;N Filter. Boosts HP and gas milage...but, your spending probably around $50-$60 for a filter! Sell the car and buy a American car! What is the best way to upgrade a 96' Honda Civic w/out spending a lot of money?i'd start with a K%26amp;N cold air intake. Also i'd get a new exhaust. What is the best way to upgrade a 96' Honda Civic w/out spending a lot of money?
