i don't know that much of Honda's. with engine types i don't know anything so i just wanted to know if this car is fast and if its possible to mod it up and make it a lil bit faster. Is a honda eg with a h22 engine a good car to mod up and is it fast with this type of engine? The H22 is an engine from a Honda Prelude SI or an Accord SI, its a 2.2 liter VTEC engine.
The eg civic hatch's normal engine based on it's model (ex or Si in this case) is the d16z6
H22 produces 200 PS (147 kW; 197 hp) @ 6,800 rpm %26amp; 161.50 ft路lbf (218.96 N路m) @ 5,500 rpm
The d16z6 produces 125 hp (93.2 kW, 127 ps) @ 6600 rpm
%26amp; Torque : 106 ft路lb (14.7 kg/m, 144 Nm) @ 5200 rpm
Both engines have VTEC however, the H-series motor is a double overhead cam and the d-series motor is a single overhead cam.
Either way, your H22 has a 72 horsepower advantage and 54 more ft-lbs of torque.
now, lets look at the weight of the vehicles the engines are made for:
The Honda Prelude (fully dressed) has a curb weight of 2,840 lb (1,288 kg)
The Honda Civic hatchback (fully dressed) has a curb weight of '2,178 lb (988 kg)
Your civic is obviously lighter, with those statistics, you decide. Is a honda eg with a h22 engine a good car to mod up and is it fast with this type of engine?
yes it will be fast, the h22a prelude motor puts out around 200-210bhp, so in a little civic eg that will make a fast car, although if you are going to engine swap go for a b16a2 from a 98 civic vti or a b18c1 from a integra type-r , the b-series are the better more tune able engines.
the h22 will be good though, you can put on a good quality induction kit/cold air feed and cat-back exhaust to improve performance. theres tons you can do and you can push some nice power out of the h22a, it could be a very fast car with some money put into it. remember its a dohc vtec 2.2 in a car that weighs a little over a ton!Is a honda eg with a h22 engine a good car to mod up and is it fast with this type of engine?eg is a civic hatchback 1992-1995, they are really light and the h22 is a honda prelude motor. It has about 200 hp and on a small civic like that will run 14s in a quater mile which is faster than a lot of cars. A lot of ppl are using the acura rsx type-s motors and with just bolt ons they run 13s. A newer mustang GT run low 14s in a quater mile so you can get pretty quick. If you have the money and turbocharge it it can get well past 400hp there are 700+hp hondas rolling around. Is a honda eg with a h22 engine a good car to mod up and is it fast with this type of engine?
honestly, almost any car can be modded to be fast. however, the H22 is a relatively popular car to modify in hondas. To make real power, you'll need to turbo it, but will probably need to rebuild the engine to handle the increase in power. It'll be expensive, but big hp in small car means it'll be fastIs a honda eg with a h22 engine a good car to mod up and is it fast with this type of engine? The H22 engine is a favorite among people that mod Honda's. Theres some around running 400HP with turbos but I'm not sure whats all involved in getting them there.
