Can you trade in a 2000 Honda Civic without a catalytic converter? It was causing me problems a few years back; so my bf at the time just took it out. I never had it replaced. Can you trade in a 2000 Honda Civic without a catalytic converter? They may refuse to take it - it is a huge federal offense to remove a catalytic converter and they may not want anything to do with it. More likely the dollars involved will sway them and they will offer a couple thousand less than it would otherwise be worth. The irony is that the catalytic converter may have been covered under the federally mandated emissions warranty of 8 years or 80K miles when it was removed. Can you trade in a 2000 Honda Civic without a catalytic converter?Dealers with inspect the car before they take it from you.. they may refuse of give you a low-ball amount for your car.. remember dealer will have to replace the catalytic converter to ensure it's drivable

with the correct emissions.
