Car oils (like valvoline) are great for cars but not for motorcycles with wet clutches. Some oils contain additives which can add to clutch slippage on motorcycles, etc. Avoid car oils.
I would use a 10W40. Good all around, and motorcycle oil can be had easily without a lot of hunting.
