What options do I have on Engine upgrade for a 1987 Honda Civic 4 door?

I have a 1987 Honda Civic it is in Perfect condition but the engine just went bad also the clutch is bad. I want to buy a New Engine and Transmission Combination and would like to know what options I have I would like to go with a newer engine, but I understand engine mounts have to be taken into consideration. You could go to a junkyard and pull out a stock engine of the same year and put it in for the cheapest. If you want performance, I'd say buy a newer car, because there isn't much available for that old of a civic.
