PS: Maybe there was any sort of recalls conserning this subject? thanks. Why is my 2004 650cc Honda 4wheeler kicking in and out of drive and making grinding noise?I'm not real familiar with the ATV's automatic trans, but most all Automatics work in a general rule. I presume it's automatic from you stating "Drive" so I'll base my answer on an automatic. It sounds like a synchronizer in your transmission is bad or maybe just not doing what it's supposed to do for some reason. Your Transmission has different gears (also known as bands) Going from smaller to larger (smallest) being a highest gear. These gears have to line up perfectly to keep from semi-catching another gear. This is the synchronizers job. It sounds like this is whats happening. If you keep trying to ride it without going inside the case, you will most likely be looking for a transmission soon. I hope this helps. Why is my 2004 650cc Honda 4wheeler kicking in and out of drive and making grinding noise?Knackered Gearbox obviously. Why is my 2004 650cc Honda 4wheeler kicking in and out of drive and making grinding noise?Your transmission is KO'ed, go get it fixed.
