I been thinking of installing a K%26amp;N air intake on my 96 Honda Accord with a 2.2 vtec engine and I constantly receive different opinions on intakes such as: they are not worth $100 as they really don't do anything, and others say intakes make a huge difference. So if anyone can please help me out and let me know whether or not I should get an intake I would greatly appreciate it.Would installing an intake on a 96 Honda Accord make a difference?only a dyno would tell the difference really.Would installing an intake on a 96 Honda Accord make a difference?
Intake is usually the most basic and best bang for buck upgrade..Only if done right..First thing is that people tend to leave the stock airbox and upgrade the filter to a high performance one like K%26amp;N. Then run ducting from the airbox down near the bumper(However people argue that in the rain you can suck in water from big puddles etc) or if your feeling really tricky make a cold airbox. Throwing on a pod filter on some fancy pipe work will not always work as the engine will suck in hot air which could damage it. If possible make sure the intake is mounted somewhere cool and away from heat.Would installing an intake on a 96 Honda Accord make a difference?Basically what the other 2 said.
Alone it is basically useless but makes your engine bay a little prettier. On a stock there will probably be 2-3 hp gains to the crank but basically nothing to the wheels.
When you add them to additional upgrades like exhaust systems, headers, and especially things that improve air flow like valves, porting, intake manifold + throttle body, camshaft then they actually start giving you the gains their manufacturer claims.
imo: If you don't really have other plans for the engine, just buy a less restrictive K%26amp;N air filter to improve air flow.Would installing an intake on a 96 Honda Accord make a difference?
The only real difference you'll notice is throttle response. Other than that they are pretty pointless on small 2.2 liters(they just don't require much air so the small stock filter is more than fine)Would installing an intake on a 96 Honda Accord make a difference?if anything you will gain 3-4Hp. and that only comes into play at high rpms. intakes are really just eye candy. if you dont plan on doing much more mods there worthless.
